Lanie Denslow is the founder of World Wise Intercultural Training & Resources. The World Wise mission is to provide information that enables individuals to bridge cultural differences in order to work effectively wherever business demands.
Her extensive speaking and writing experiences have established that she is both knowledgeable and insightful. She is recognized for using humor and candor to help others to grasp the complexity of today’s global business environment focusing on the varied definitions of appropriate business practice.
Lanie also serves as the International Director at FIDM/The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, a private college headquartered in Los Angeles. She develops and manages the school’s international study programs and worldwide exchange relationships. Additionally she has created curricula, and developed instructor-training programs.
She is the author of World Wise: What to Know Before You Go (Fairchild Books), a guide to the global business world for today’s professionals. She is the co-author of the best-selling Working With Americans (Prentice Hall Business), a guide to American business culture. She is also a co-author of Introduction to American Life (NAFSA: Association of International Educators /U.S. Department of State, 2004). In addition, she has written articles on global business topics for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, French-American Chamber of Commerce, UK Trade & Investment, The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and the newspaper La Vanguardia in Barcelona, Spain.
A frequent speaker in the United States, she also has extensive international experiences. This has included presentations in Dalian and Beijing, China, for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Asia-Pacific USA Chamber of Commerce; in Frankfurt, Germany, for the U.S. Department of Commerce; in London, for the British-American Business Council; and in Pskov, Russia, for the International Visitors Council of Los Angeles.
In the United States, she has addressed the Annual Manufacturing Conference of the British-American Business Council, Los Angeles: the Organization of Women in International Trade; the Association of Professional Consultants, Los Angeles; NAFSA: Association of International Educators; French-American Chamber of Commerce, Los Angeles; Step Up Women’s Network, and has been a featured presenter for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce’s Connection Point program, Meeting Planners International and Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association educational conferences.
Ms. Denslow’s 15-year business management experience, ability to speak French, experience living outside the United States enhances her work. Her clients are varied including not-for-profit organizations, global transportation businesses, professional services firms, and government agencies. Her work with private clients includes coaching senior managers in cross-cultural communication and assisting with pre-departure planning for those preparing for international relocation.
As part of her professional activities, Ms. Denslow serves on the boards of directors of the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California, the International Visitors Council of Los Angeles and Protocol & Diplomacy International-Protocol Officers Association. She is also the Senior Advisory Council of Business for Diplomatic Action and a member the International Trade & Investment Committee of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Women in International Trade, Los Angeles and the British-American Business Council. She serves as a volunteer coordinator at a Hope-Net food pantry in Los Angeles.
In 2004 Lanie received the Spirit of Diplomacy award from the Protocol and Diplomacy International - The Protocol Officers Association and in 2007 she received the Special Recognition Award from the World Trade Week Committee for outstanding contributions to the world trade community as well as the Spirit of Friendship award from the Los Angeles Consular Corps Ladies Association. In 2008 the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce named her Volunteer of the Year.
Ms. Denslow holds a B.A. degree in business from Antioch University-Southern California, and both an M.B.A. and a Master’s of International Business degree from Pepperdine University and is a graduate of the Protocol School of Washington. |
